The folklore ensemble Dupak from Hradec Kralove...

We are a group of young people restoring dances and songs, but also folk customs and ancient traditions of our forefathers from east Bohemia. Our creed is to dispense a joy by dancing and singing.

There are two components in our ensemble – the musicians and the dancers, however both perform together. Our members are mainly secondary and university students. Most of them have found a passion for folklife earlier in Children’s Folklore Ensemble Cervanek from Hradec Kralove.

The Folklore Ensemble Dupak was found in the beginning of 1992 right from growing out children of Cervanek. It has changed several leaders and several rehearsal rooms during these 10 years, but it has constantly cooperated with HKVS Adalbertinum (cultural and educational company of Hradec Kralove). In cooperation with this subject we engaged gradually in folk customs associated with seasons, for example Shrovetide feast with mask parade, burying of winter and welcoming of spring, Christmas programme with carols. Even the feast of erecting maypole was expanded as weekend festival in last years. We take a care for heritage of folk architecture - Sramek’s farmhouse in Piletice and we organize many events on its yard.

Besides we perform at plenty of festivals – e.g. MFF Pardubice – Hradec, MFF U nás na Náchodsku, Horňácké ozvěny. We had successful foreign tours to Slovakia (MFF Východná, Klenovska rotounka) and to Luxembourg (Hosingen Feast).

In 2010 we started performing together with the excellent folklore music group Kvitek from our town.

We can offer a performance for various occasion to organizers of festivals, feasts in folk or historic styles, opening ceremonies, parties for firms or hotel guests,… all in duration 5minutes – 1hours, in forms of concert program or folk entertainment. We can perform also traditional Bohemian wedding from courtship to ritual covering up of bride’s hair.
